The fruits of our labor

Michael and I finished planting our garden over the weekend! We are growing a few varieties of tomatoes, red bell peppers, strawberries, jalapenos, parsley, oregano, chives and rosemary. We also spread some grass seed and lawn fertilizer. I never understood my parents' obsession with grass and bald spots - until now.

The flowering pear tree we planted a few days after we moved in last March has a few white flowers on it - I'm so excited! We planted this tree to watch it grow with us. It's fun to think that in the years to come - even when we don't live here anymore - we can come by and check on this tree and know we planted it there. Also, spy with your little eye my one verbena plant that came back this year. Hopefully the others will decide to wake up pretty soon. I love perennials!

Penny update

She's doing great! You would never know she had surgery yesterday. She is laid out on the couch right now with a full belly of soft dog food. She has to eat that for a few days since she got a dental done, too. I don't think she minds, the plate is always clean :)

Rude awakening

Penny woke up, got a bath and was on her way to the vet by 7:15 a.m. Poor little girl is usually still sleeping during that time on most days. We got here at the vet's office and she is a nervous wreck, probably just as nervous as her mommy. She made some friends while we have been waiting. She is getting spayed and a dental. I said a prayer and just handed her over to Olivia and know she will be in good hands with them. I hope I can make it through this day!

Prayers for Penny

Penny is my 5 1/2 year old Morkie (Yorkie/Maltese mix) and she is getting spayed tomorrow. I know the Lord will watch over her.

A walk in the park

A group of friends gathered on Saturday at Langan Park to play disc golf since it was so beautiful outside. Michael, Jayson, Chris and I got there a bit early so Jayson could give us some DSLR camera pointers. Michael and I are still 'newbs' when it comes to my new cam, so with Jayson's help I can now stray away from the automatic settings (which are all awesome) and venture into the aperture and shutter priority settings. Rhonda, my coworker David and his son Ian, joined us for disc golf. Here are just a few of the photos I got:

Disc golfin' at Langan Park can be tricky

I feel sore just looking at this shot of Rhonda

Beautiful Day!

The park was loaded with duckies and geese today. All of the geese reminded me of that scene in The Notebook. This was just from my phone, but I did get some great photos with the new cam and will post soon.

Can't wait to soak up some more sun playing in my flower beds tomorrow!

You've Got a Friend

I found this lady bug hanging out in my cube at work. It made it all the way up to the ninth floor somehow. I let it stick around for a while before taking it outside to enjoy this gorgeous weather. I love that the temperature is going to be in the 70s for the next 10 days. The thought of getting out in the yard and doing some yard work this weekend actually makes me happy :)

Valentine's Day

Michael knew what I really wanted for Vday. He knew I didn't need a box of chocolates or chocolate covered strawberries....my wonderful boyfriend knew I needed DOUBLE STUF OREOS!

See, I have this thing with these Oreos. I don't like the original ones, only double stuf (yes, it's spelled stuf, which I hate. Kids read these things and will think 'stuff' should be 'stuf '- yes, that is the inner journalist coming out of me). I will sit and eat the entire thing of Oreos if no one was around to stop me. We'll see how long this package lasts. I'm wondering when they will be coming out with triple stuf ones. Maybe I need to propose that to Nabisco!

A trip to Pcola

Jana came down from Birmingham to stay in Pensacola for the weekend. Michael and I drove over Saturday and met up with them at McGuire's Irish Pub. We had a great time and yummy food! Everything is huge! We split an app of nachos four ways and still had more left, we all had the bean soup (for only 18¢ who can pass that up?), J & D split the guacamole burger and M and I had the Big Daddy burger - named for the Next Food Network Star. All was way too good! Can' t wat for our next visit!

Cruisin' for a good time!

Well, Stephanie, Mrs. Darlene and I did it - another cruise is booked! We will be out on the Navigator of the Seas for 5 nights and will visit the Cayman Islands and Cozumel.

I'm so excited for some r&r on this trip. I feel a lot more at ease knowing what to expect on a cruise this time around. I plan to eat a lot :)

Hopefully I can get Michael on a cruise in the next year!
