About Me

I was born and raised in Mobile, AL and love it here. I was fortunate to have the University of South Alabama in my hometown so I did not have to leave my family to go to school. I graduated in May 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, focusing on Print Journalism, minoring in English. I guess you can tell I love to write?

I joined Blogger in April 2008 right before I was about to graduate college. The thought of graduating from college was kind of mind blowing to me, as was thinking about getting a ‘real world’ job. Right out of college I landed a reporter position with the Spanish Fort Sun newspaper. I have always loved writing and photography, but this job really expanded my love for both. The newspaper was a small weekly paper. I was the sole reporter for the paper, however, we had a sports reporter/photographer. Being the only reporter, there was a lot of pressure to capture just the right photos for the paper to go along with the coinciding story. It was then that I learned to take 100 photos to be sure I got one usable photo for my story.

My wonderful boyfriend Michael and I have been together for six years. He is my rock and I would be lost without him. We met in school at USA and started dating the summer of 2005. Shortly after we decided we wanted to take on the roles as parents. No we do not have any human children, but in November 2005 we got two Morkie puppies, which are a mix between a Maltese and a Yorkie. He wanted a Maltese, I wanted a Yorkie. We found the Morkies and left with deposits on not one, but two. Penny and Holly are my heart and fill me with so much joy every day.

Not only do we have two dogs, we have two cats. We found Beebee in May 2010 and thankfully Michael let me keep her, despite being allergic to cats. This was not an easy task. In November 2010 we acquired Ceecee, who we think is Beebee’s long-lost brother. They are the best, most loving cats! I pray that no other homeless kitties find me, or me find them, because I know I have reached my limit with my feline friends.

Michael blessed me this Christmas with my Nikon D5000. My cats and dogs have hated him and the camera ever since. I’m still learning how to use that bad boy. The poor animals will be on the couch sleeping and I’ll take 20 photos all in different settings to test them all out. Learning all of the aperture and shutter priority settings has been hard, but a lot of fun. When I talk to my friends who have been into ‘real’ photography for years, I really feel like an HUGE amateur because I will have no idea what they’re talking about. I will, one day.

I’m all about savoring those precious moments. I decided this year, why not share those precious moments with the world? And alas, I did. This blog has since evolved into a ‘home ownership’ meets ‘this is what I’ve been up to’ meets ‘you should try this product/place’ and everything in between. There is really no good description to describe this blog.

Happy blogging!
